Bihar Govt: All About Tarkishore Prasad And Renu Devi, The Two Deputy CMs In Nitish Kumar Cabinet

While Nitish returned as the Chief Minister of Bihar for his fourth consecutive term, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers of the state.

After the electoral victory in the recently concluded Assembly poll, Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar along with 14 others sworn-in during the oath-taking ceremony on Monday evening at the Raj Bhawan in Patna. While Nitish returned as the Chief Minister of Bihar for his fourth consecutive term, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar. Governor Phagu Chauhan administered the oath of office to both the Deputy Chief Ministers after swearing-in of Nitish Kumar at a simple ceremony at the Raj Bhawan, in the presence of BJP national president J P Nadda, Union home minister Amit Shah and other prominent. This indicated their position as number 2 and number 3 in the new council of ministers. Tarkishore Prasad (BJP): Deputy CM MLA from Katihar, Tarkishore Prasad in 2020 Bihar Assembly Elections won the same seat after defeating RJD candidate Ram Prakash Mahato by around 10,000 votes. Born in Saharsa district in the Mithilanchal region of Bihar, the 52-year-old Prasad comes from the Kalwar caste, placed under the Backward Class (BC) category which is electorally significant in Bihar. Prasad is believed to have association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh for a long time. He contested for the first time in the year 2005 when he defeated Mahato by 165 votes, followed by second victory in 2010, and then in 2015. On Sunday, Prasad was unanimously elected as leader of the BJP Legislature Party, and said he will try to perform any duties entrusted to him by the party with full responsibility. Since Katihar borders West Bengal including Prasad might help BJP to cement its presence in Bengal. Similar to Prasad, Renu Devi has also been a low-profile BJP leader in Bihar, who has been associated with RSS for a long time. Along with Prasad, Renu Devi was also elected as the deputy leader of the Bihar BJP legislature on Sunday. In the past, she erved as a minister in the Nitish Kumar cabinet formed after the 2010 Bihar Assembly election.
