Bihar Class 7 Exam Paper Terms Kashmir Separate Country, Teacher Says 'Human Error'

After a question paper for class 7 students in Bihar termed Kashmir as a separate country, the head teacher issued a clarification saying it was a "human error."

New Delhi: A class 7th question paper set up by a school in Bihar's Kishanganj allegedly termed Kashmir a separate country and not a part of India. The incident prompted officials to issue a swift clarification. According to the news agency ANI, the head teacher SK Das said it was a "human error".

"Got this via Bihar Education Board. Ques had to ask what are people from Kashmir called? Mistakenly carried as what are people of the country of Kashmir called? This was human error", Headteacher, SK Das was quoted by ANI as saying.

The question was "What are people of the following countries called?" One of the options in the list was, "The people of Kashmir are called the..."

Rural Development Minister, Shrawan Kumar told ANI that the matter will be investigated and strict action will be taken against the one responsible.

"The matter will be investigated & anyone responsible will be punished, taken strict action against in the matter", Kumar was quoted by ANI.

Slamming the Bihar government over the incident, BJP state president Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, on Tuesday, said that the Nitish Kumar government does not consider Kashmir a part of India which indicates a nexus between PFI and the ruling alliance in Bihar.

"To be asked in the districts of Seemanchal by the Bihar Education Project Council what is a citizen of China, of England, of Nepal, of India and at the same time a citizen of Kashmir? This shows that there is a nefarious nexus of PFI supporters sitting in the government and PFI supporters of RJD.", Jaiswal's Twitter post read.
