'Have Fun, Not Scared Of Cases': Rahul Hits Backs At CM Himanta In Assam

Reacting to the FIR filed against him in Assam, Rahul Gandhi has hit back at CM Himanta Sarma saying he is not scared and does not care about cases against him.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is leading the Congress party's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam right now, has reacted to the FIR filed against him on the direction of Chief Minister Himanta Sarma saying that he does not care about cases against him and is not scared of the BJP or the RSS. Taking a jibe at Sarma, he wondered how Sarma got the idea that 'he could scare Rahul Gandhi'.

Addressing the public, he said, "I don't know from where he (Himanta Biswa Sarma) got it in his mind that he can scare Rahul Gandhi. No matter how many cases he files, I Not afraid... 25 cases have been filed, file 25 more."

Rahul Gandhi resumed his yatra with a road show in Barpeta on the seventh day of the march in Assam. On Tuesday, a clash erupted between Congress workers and the police in Guwahati, following which Sarma directed the DGP to file an FIR against Gandhi for provoking the crowd. Congress, however, claimed that the ruling BJP was trying to stop the yatra.

In a social media post, Sarma said, "With reference to wanton acts of violence, provocation , damage to public property and assault on police personnel today by Cong members , a FIR has been registered against Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, Kanhaiya Kumar and other individuals under section 120(B)143/147/188/283/353/332/333/427 IPC R/W Sec. 3 of PDPP Act."

"We can imagine what would have been the situation if 3000 people and 200 vehicles had entered Guwahati. For six days we were telling him to go by the route they are comfortable with but not to go through the middle route of Guwahati. Even after saying this, they (Congress workers) clashed with the police," Assam Chief Minister told reporters.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has also written to Home Minister Amit Shah on “security issues” faced by Rahul Gandhi in Assam and urged him to ensure his safety during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
