Shocking! Five Of Family, Including 9-Month-Old Boy, Found Dead In Bengaluru; Toddler Survives

While the bodies of four adults were found hanging from the ceiling of different rooms, a 9-month-old child was found dead on a bed. A 2-and-a-half year-old girl was found alive.

New Delhi: In a highly shocking incident similar to Delhi's Burari mass suicide case, five members of a family were found dead in a house in Bengaluru’s Byadarahalli area on Friday.

While the bodies of four adults were found hanging from the ceiling of different rooms, a 9-month-old boy was found dead on a bed. According to media reports, the infant died of starvation after the family allegedly ended their lives. The exact reason of the child's death is yet to be ascertained, news agency IANS reported.

A two-and-a-half year-old girl was the only member who was found alive. The girl child, who had starved for almost four days, was found unconscious in the house, and has now been shifted to hospital for treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Bharathi (51), her daughters Sinchana (34), Sindhoora (34), and son Madhusagar (25). The baby boy was yet to be named, the IANS report said.

They lived in Thigalarapalya locality of Byadarahalli.

According to a report in The New Indian Express, the nine-month-old was Sindhoora's son. It also said the bodies were in a highly decomposed state as the deaths occurred four days ago.

Bharathi's husband Hulagere Shankar is a journalist and he was said to have been away for a few days.

The bodies were discovered only when Shankar returned home after four days. The main door was locked from inside and he got no response from anyone in the house. He then called the police, and the the door was broken open. The four bodies were found hanging in different rooms.

According to preliminary investigation, police suspect that all four adults allegedly killed themselves over a family dispute.

IANS quoted DCP (West) Sanjeev M. Patil as saying: "The police are searching for a suicide note or any other evidence from the house. We are also trying to find out how the neighbours did not come to know of the incident even after three-four days."

The reason for the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, a case of unnatural death has been registered and further investigation is on.
