Babri Masjid Demolition Case: 'Verdict Vindicates My Personal Belief,'Says Advani; Congress Asks Govt To Challenge Acquittal
The decision of special court to acquit all accused in Babri Masjid demolition case runs counter to SC judgment, said Congress.
Babri Masjid Demolition Case verdict: As the special CBI court acquitted 32 accused in the 28-year-old Babri Masjid demotion case in its landmark judgment, BJP veteran Lal Krishna Advani , who spearheaded the Ayodhya movement and was one of the accused, hailed the verdict.
Advani, who appeared in the court through video conferencing, welcomed the court order and said, "The judgment vindicates my personal and BJP's belief and commitment towards the Ram Janmabhoomi movement."

Along with millions of my countrymen, I now look forward to completion of beautiful Shri Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, he said. “It is a moment of happiness for all of us, we chanted 'Jai Shri Ram' after court verdict,” he added.
The Babri mosque demolition case of December 6, 1992, had top BJP leaders like former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani, former Union Ministers M.M. Joshi, Uma Bharti, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh and Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, among those accused.
The court today acquitted all the 32 accused saying it was spontaneous and not a pre-planned move, citing absence of conclusive proof to suggest a criminal conspiracy.

Welcoming the judgment, senior BJP leader and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in a tweet said he welcomes the court's decision as it shows that though late but the justice has won .
Opposition demands appeal against decision
Reacting to the verdict, Congress said that every Indian who has innate faith in Constitution, expects Centre, state government to appeal against special court decision as the decision of special court to acquit all accused in Babri Masjid demolition case runs counter to SC judgment.
Congress spokesperson, Surjewala cited the SC judgment in para 788 XVII x, which said: "On 6 December 1992, the structure of the mosque was brought down and the mosque was destroyed. The destruction of the mosque took place in breach of the order of status quo and an assurance given to this Court. The destruction of the mosque and the obliteration of the Islamic structure was an egregious violation of the rule of law."
Meanwhile, Lawyer Zafaryab Jilani has said that the verdict acquitting all 32 accused in Babri masjid demolition case will be challenged in the high court.
