Babri Masjid Case Verdict: Amit Shah Congratulates LK Advani; RS Prasad Arrives At BJP Veteran's Residence
The verdict for the Babri masjid demolition case is out and the special CBI court has acquited all 32 accused. Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated veteran BJP leader LK Advani who was one the main accused in the case.
New Delhi: The special CBI court on Wednesday announced its verdict on the Babri masjid demolition case and acquitted all 32 accused, calling the incident not "pre-planned" and "proofs not strong enough". After the verdict, Home Minster Amit Shah congratulated veteran BJP leader LK Advani who was one the main accused in the case. The senior BJP leader has been cleared of all charges.
As soon as the verdict came out in favour of Advani, Union Law and Justice Minister RS Prasad went to the residence of the former to meet and congratulate him for being acquitted.
The 1992 Babri masjid demolition was preceded by a series of rath yatras by LK Advani.
92-year-old Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, 86, Uma Bharti and Kalyan Singh were not present in court but remained present via video link.
Advani was also watching ABP News on a TV set along with his family members.
The 32 accused include former deputy prime minister Advani, former Union ministers Joshi and Uma Bharti, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh, during whose tenure the structure was pulled down, besides Vinay Katiyar and Sadhvi Rithambara.

Special judge Surendra Kumar Yadav, on May 30, 2017, had framed charges against Advani, Joshi, Bharti, Katiyar and Rithambhara for conspiracy under Section 120 B of IPC read with sections 147, 149, 153(a), 153(b) and 505(1)(b) of IPC.Mahant Nritya Gopal, Ram Vilas Vedanti, Dharmadas and Satish Pradhan are facing charges under Section 295 of IPC in addition to Sections 147, 149, 153(a), 153(b) and 505(1)(b).
Ahead of the verdict, special security arrangements had been made in Ayodhya also where police personnel have been deployed in adequate numbers.
