Ayodhya Mosque Construction Begins With Tricolour Hoisting & Planting Tree Saplings

According to reports, the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF) trust will build the mosque in Ayodhya’s Dhannipur village, which is about 25 km from the Ram Janmabhoomi site where the Ram Temple is being built. The members of the trust gathered at the site this morning where IICF chief Zafar Ahmad Farooqui hoisted the tricolour.

Ayodhya: In tune with the 2019 Supreme Court verdict ordering the allotment of a five-acre plot to the Sunni Waqf Board for building a mosque in Ayodhya, a formal project to construct a mosque kicked off on Tuesday with raising of the national flag on the occasion of India’s 72nd Republic Day and planting of tree saplings. ALSO READ | Missed Train From Delhi Due To Chaotic Clashes? According to reports, the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF) trust will build the mosque in Ayodhya’s Dhannipur village, which is about 25 km from the Ram Janmabhoomi site where the Ram Temple is being built. The members of the trust gathered at the site this morning where IICF chief Zafar Ahmad Farooqui hoisted the tricolour.

The trust members then planted a tree sapling each at the site to mark the work’s formal beginning.

The IICF had last month unveiled the mosque’s futuristic design.

A five-judge Constitution bench of the apex court had in 2019 ruled that the mosque should be constructed at a prominent site and trust should be formed within three months for the construction of the temple at the site many Hindus believe is the birthplace of Lord Ram.

Directing the allotment of land to the Muslims for the construction of a mosque, the apex court said, “Muslims were dispossessed of the mosque in 1949 and December 6, 1992. Wrong committed must be remitted.”
