Assam: Student Jumps From Hostel Building After Ragging, CM Assures Strict Action
Assam CM took note of the occurrence and declared that he was monitoring it and collaborating with the local government for further action.
Following an alleged ragging incident, a student from Dibrugarh University in Assam leaped from the second story of the dormitory building on Sunday. The police detained three people and arrested one suspect in the case on Monday, news agency ANI reported.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, took note of the occurrence and declared that he was monitoring it and collaborating with the local government for further action. He urged the pupils to reject ragging.
Taking to Twitter, Assam CM stated: "It has come to notice that a Dibrugarh University student is hurt in an alleged case of ragging. Close watch maintained & followup action coordinated with district admn. Efforts on to nab the accused, victim being provided medical care. Appeal to students, say NO to Ragging."

Appeal to students, say NO to Ragging.
Dibrugarh SP informed ANI that the parents of the student, Anand Sharma, submitted a complaint claiming ragging by five persons at a university dormitory. Following that, accused Niranjan Thakur was arrested, and three others were held, according to the SP.

“Condition of the injured victim is stable,” he said.
The office of the university registrar has rusticated 21 Dibrugarh University students for suspected participation in ragging junior pupils at the university.
The student was a resident of Dibrugarh University's PNGB hostel.
