'From Indian National Congress To Bharatiya Janata Party': Assam CM On Changing His Twitter Bio

Last week, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma changed his Twitter bio from 'Chief Minister of Assam, India' to 'Chief Minister of Assam, BHARAT'.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Monday elaborated on the decision to change his Twitter bio from India to Bharat, a change that he made soon after the new Opposition alliance INDIA was announced last week. He said he has "proudly changed" his Twitter bio having taken the journey from the Congress to the BJP. Sarma has changed his Twitter bio from 'Chief Minister of Assam, India' to 'Chief Minister of Assam, BHARAT'. He had also tweeted that the country's civilisational conflict is pivoted around India and Bharat, adding that the British named the country India.

In a fresh explanation that he said sought to answer questions put up by "friends from the Congress", he tweeted: "In my previous bio, I mentioned Assam, INDIA . However, I forgot to update it after my journey from the INDIAN National Congress to the BHARATIYA  Janata  Party. Now, I have proudly changed my bio to Assam, BHARAT.
Some friends from the Congress are asking me why I changed my bio. I hope this explanation will satisfy them."

In his previous tweet, the Assam Chief Minister remarked: "We must strive to free ourselves from colonial legacies. Our forefathers fought for Bharat, and we will continue to work for Bharat. BJP for BHARAT."

As his tweet geolocation read 'Guwahati, India', Congress leader Supriya Shrinate mocked the tweet saying, "Himanta, find a better tweet writer. This one makes you appear foolish. Your fight seems to begin with your geo location on your Twitter bio 😂"

"Be rest assured we will ensure, India Will Come Together, India Will Win," she remarked in reference to the new united opposition alliance named INDIA.

She also posted a screengrab of CM Himanta Sarma's Twitter bio highlighting 'Bharat' and India both, and said, "One is done, the other remains 😀🤣, Where are you getting entangled in Bharat / INDIA - both are beyond your understanding."

Meanwhile, the Parliament's Monsoon Session saw a third day of stalemate with the Opposition protesting to demand Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement on the Manipur crisis while the ruling BJP MPs also held a demonstration to highlight crimes against women happening in non-BJP states like Rajasthan and West Bengal.
