'Will Keep Critics Close': Quoting Kabir, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Responds To BJP's Aarop Patra

Earlier this week, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government had launched a report card of his five years in rule since 2015, describing the top 10 achievements of the government.

New Delhi: Reacting to Bharatiya Janata Party's allegations of misguiding and fooling people in the last five years, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that his party will go through the Aarop Patra (charge sheet) released by the saffron party against his government and implement the 'goods suggestions' in the next five years. The Delhi BJP on Saturday released an "aarop patra" against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, alleging that it "misguided and befooled" people in the last five years and "failed" to fulfill the promises made before the 2015 assembly election. Reacting to the charges, Kejriwal said one should keep his critics close to himself, referring to the words of poet Kabir Das — 'nindak niyare rakhiye'. "We will go through the 'aarop patra' of the BJP and whatever good suggestions have been given in it we will implement it in the next five years. We want everyone to review our work and point out our shortcomings and give suggestions so that we can do more good work," he said. Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, Lok Sabha MP Meenakshi Lekhi and other senior BJP leaders also accused the AAP of "fanning the fire" in the string of violent protests against the amended citizenship law in Delhi. Earlier this week, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government had launched a report card of his five years in rule since 2015, describing the top 10 achievements of the government. "The report card will be taken to 35 lakh households in the city as a part of a door-to-door campaign," Kejriwal had said. The tenure of Kejriwal will end in February 2020. Starting from education to health, power, water, budget performance, women safety, unauthorised colonies, transport, pro-people governance and transformational governance, Kejriwal recounted the journey of his government and its 'achievements'. "The public is at the top of the republic, and people who have been elected by them are for their service. Those in service must present a report card of their work to the people. The people elected us in service five years back, and our term of service of five years is nearing its end. We are presenting our report card to the people of Delhi," said had Kejriwal. AAP has also upped the ante on BJP's criticism of its government's five-year performance report, by citing its bad governance in the capital's civic bodies. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia urged the people not to waste their precious vote on the BJP, otherwise it will make Delhi "a mirror image of MCD" (Municipal Corporation of Delhi). Over the years, the AAP has alleged that corruption is unparalleled in BJP-controlled MCD. Sisodia challenged the BJP to come out with a report card of its achievement in MCD during its over-decade-long control on the municipality.
