Aparna Yadav, Placated By BJP, Takes Charge Of UP Women's Panel; But No Word Against Akhilesh

Aparna Yadav, daughter-in-law of former Uttar Pradesh CM Mulayam Singh Yadav, has been seemingly placated by the BJP as she has assumed the post of vice-chairperson of the UP Women's Commission.

Aparna Yadav News: BJP leader Aparna Yadav on Wednesday took charge as the vice-chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Women's Commission. UP Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak's wife was present with Aparna Yadav as she assumed office. Aparna assumed the charge amid speculations of her displeasure with the BJP and she exploring a move back to the Samajwadi Party's fold.

Aparna Yadav, a daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav's sister-in-law, kept the door open for a switch to the Samajwadi Party as she deliberately avoided speaking against the Yadav family. After taking charge, Aparna Yadav told media persons that the "family" has always been with her. "The family was with me before and is still with me," she said.

She was answering to a question on whether Akhilesh Yadav had turned down her request to rejoin the SP. Aparna Yadav joined the BJP in 2022 after she was reportedly denied a ticket for the Lucknow Cantonment seat.

Even before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Aparna Yadav has never spoken directly against Akhilesh Yadav and the Yadav family. She even turned down any possibility of fighting a member of the Yadav family when there were speculations of the BJP fielding her against the Mainpuri MP.

When asked if she was upset with the BJP, Aparna Yadav said, "A responsibility has been given to me. There is no displeasure. All this happens a little in any family." Her remarks confirmed the reports of the rift in the BJP.

However, Aparna Yadav said she had been assured by the BJP high command that her work would not go unappreciated. She said, "I met everyone and have gained confidence. We shall focus on doing good work."

Last week, the Yogi government appointed Aparna Yadav the vice-chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Women's Commission. But she put off taking charge of the post. She reportedly sought the chairperson's post, which went to Babita Chauhan from Agra.
