Terror Outfit TRF Claims Responsibility For Anantnag Encounter

Terror outfit TRF has claimed responsibility for the Anantnag encounter, which led to the martyrdom of an Army Colonel, Major, and DSP.

The terrorist organisation, The Resistance Front (TRF), has asserted its involvement in the Anantnag encounter that unfolded on Wednesday (September 13) resulting in the loss of three valiant servicemen's lives. Among the casualties were two army officers and a Jammu and Kashmir Police officer, officials familiar with the update told ABP News.

The casualties include Commanding Colonel Manpreet Singh of the Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Major Ashish from RR, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Bhat of Jammu and Kashmir Police. Although all three sustained serious injuries during the firefight, they did not survive despite receiving medical attention, news agency PTI reported.

The operation against the terrorists, which took place in the Gadole area, commenced on Tuesday evening but was temporarily halted during the night. However, on Wednesday morning, a renewed search for the terrorists was initiated after receiving intelligence suggesting their presence in the vicinity. Click here to read more.

As per the report, Colonel Singh exhibited exemplary leadership by confronting the terrorists head-on, but unfortunately, they responded with gunfire. Special forces have been deployed to neutralize the terrorists believed to be in the area, estimated to be around 3 to 4 in number. The search operation is expected to continue throughout the night.

Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti, expressed her condolences for the martyred servicemen. She conveyed her grief on social media platform X, stating, "My deepest condolences to the families of the jawans who were martyred today while on duty in Anantnag. There is no place for such heinous acts of violence."

Former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed his condolences on the incident.
