Anandiben's letter to be placed before BJP parliamentary board: Amit Shah
New Delhi: BJP President Amit Shah said on Monday that he will place before the party's parliamentary board -- one of the BJP's apex decision-making forum -- a letter from Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel asking the leadership to relieve her of her post.
“The spirit that she has expressed, we will place it before the parliamentary board. The next course of action will follow accordingly,” Shah said here.
He indicated that the parliamentary board would also take a decision on the new Chief Minister.
Referring to the contents of the letter, Shah said Patel had written that the new Chief Minister will need time to prepare for the assembly polls expected by the end of next year.
He said the state will also be hosting the Vibrant Gujarat summit in January next year.
Shah praised the work of Anandiben Patel, saying she had taken forward the work done by Narendra Modi as Chief Minister.
“She has had a successful tenure,” he said.
In a Facebook post in Gujarati, Patel on Monday called upon the BJP leadership to "relieve" her from her present responsibilities in keeping with the party's laudable tradition of leaders who turn 75 vacating their posts.
