An FIR has been registered against Congress leader Alka Lamba after she shared an old video on social media where she has used ‘objectionable remarks’ while criticizing the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the Unnao rape case.

New Delhi: Congress leader from Uttar Pradesh Alka Lamba landed herself in trouble after she shared an old video where she has used ‘objectionable remarks’ while criticizing the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. According to reports, an FIR has been registered against Lamba at Lucknow’s Hazratganj police station for her remarks on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Adityanath in a video about Unnao rape case.

In a video that was shared by her on Twitter she expresses her anger over the 2017 Unnao Rape case. On June 4, 2017 a seventeen-year-old girl was gang-raped in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, and BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar was found guilty and was later imprisoned. In Lamba’s video she lambasts the Yogi government over the incident and says that “had he been a father he would have understood the pain of the rape victim’s father.”

She also said that the government makes hollow promises of 'Beti Bachao' and the party is only interested in caste and religion politics. She also directed her criticism on Modi and said  ‘I spit on your face’ and calls both the leaders 'impotent'. The video which is dated April 9, 2018, on Youtube was tweeted by her on 25 May 2020. Lamba has said that the video is almost 2 years old and has been viewed by several people.

The complaint was registered by Dr. Preeti Verma who is a member of the U.P. State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. She has also tweeted about her FIR and said that ‘such language should not be used against people who hold high constitutional posts.’
