ACB raids PWD office after complaint on BRT demolition

New Delhi: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday raided the Delhi's Public Works Department (PWD) office after allegations rose over corruption in the project to dismantle the 6.2 km BRT corridor in South Delhi. The complaint, filed by Bharatiya Janata Party MLA O.P. Sharma, alleges corruption to the tune of Rs. 15 crores in the Delhi government project. Meanwhile, Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia refuted the allegations and dared the BJP-led Centre to arrest him. "Looks like the slap on Arunachal Pradesh issue was not enough. I had struck the first blow to the demolition of BRT. If you dare, then Modi ji send us all to jail, but even then the truth cannot be covered up," Sisodia said in a series of tweets. According to reports, Sharma, along with RTI activist Vivek Garg, had on Tuesday sought registration of cases for cheating, criminal breach of trust, corruption and misappropriation against PWD Minister Satyendar Jain and other officials. The complaint has also accused the contractor of the demolition project. The BJP legislator's complaint alleged that the demolition contractor made crores of rupees of profit by taking away the scrap, which was not taken into consideration by the PWD. The complaint further states that there is virtually no mention of the "scrap value of salvage" in the tender documents, despite the PWD Minister himself being a former CPWD engineer.
