9 Killed In Blast At Nagpur Factory, State Govt Declares Rs 5 Lakh Relief For Kin Of Victims

Nine people were killed in a blast at a factory in Maharashtra's Nagpur. The state government has announced a compensation of Rs 5 Lakh for the kin of the deceased.

Nine people were killed in a blast at a Solar Explosive Company in the Bazargaon village of Nagpur in Maharashtra. The blast happened at the time of packing in the cast booster plant in the company, SP Nagpur Rural said. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has declared financial assistance of Rs 5 Lakh for the kin of the deceased.

Expressing grief over the incident, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said in a tweet, "It is very unfortunate that 9 people including 6 women died in the explosion at Solar Industries in Nagpur. It is a company that manufactures drones and explosives for the defence forces. The Nagpur Collector and Superintendent of Police are in constant touch and the IG, SP, and Collector are at the spot. The state government will give assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the kins of those who died in this incident."
 
Later in the day, he visited the site of the explosion at Solar Industries in Nagpur and also met the families of the deceased.
 
Earlier on November 29, an explosion occurred at a chemical plant in Gujarat's Surat which left 24 workers injured. According to a PTI report, inflammable chemicals were stored in a large tank which had a leakage. The leakage eventually caused an explosion following which flames engulfed the building. Surat in-charge chief fire officer Basant Pareek said, "At least 24 workers suffered injuries and were rushed to a hospital where they are undergoing treatment."

Another official while talking about the incident said, "The blast caused the fire in the three-storey building of the factory and engulfed the entire unit."

Over a dozen fire-fighting vehicles were rushed to the spot to contain the flames, as reported by PTI.
