80 Percent Covid-19 Patients Asymptomatic In Maharashtra: Uddhav Thackeray

The CM on Sunday thanked people for celebrating festivals like Akshaya Tritiya and Ramzan from home and following the rules of social distancing during the coronavirus lockdown

Mumbai: Maharashtra the worst affected state in India with the Coronavirus outbreak on Sunday crossed the 7,000-mark. Amidst the soaring positive cases in the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said that 80 per cent patients in the state are asymptomatic and 20 per have mild, serious, or critical symptoms. The CM appealed to the people those who are hiding the symptoms and not getting tested please go and get the tests done at the earliest. Uddhav Thackeray also urged the migrant labourers not to panic and that he is talking to the center and whatever is possible will be done soon. The Minister said, "I assure the migrant labourers that I am talking to the center and whatever is possible will be done soon. One thing is sure that trains are not starting because we don't want a crowd, otherwise, lockdown will be needed to be further extended. He also said that he is in continuous discussion with his Rajasthan counterpart Ashok Gehlot and with the central government in order to bring back students from the state stuck in Kota. Thackeray and Gehlot also discussed various stratagems to control the spread of coronavirus in their respective states over the phone on Friday. The CM on Sunday thanked people for celebrating festivals like Akshaya Tritiya and Ramzan from home and following the rules of social distancing during the coronavirus lockdown. Thackeray also urged the Muslim community not to go out to pray during Ramzan amid lockdown. The minister stated, "Today is Akshaya Tritiya but there's no celebration, I'm thankful for that. I want to appeal that it's Ramzan but don't go out to pray. Everyone's asking where's God. God is in everyone who's serving us in these hard times -Police, Doctors, cleanliness workers, and others. During his address to state, Maharashtra Chief Minister paid homage to the two Mumbai Police officials who lost their life due to coronavirus. The minister said, "It is painful that 2 of our policemen have sacrificed their lives. I pay homage to them. Their families will be supported as per the government policy,". Maharashtra currently has 7,628 cases, the highest in the country. The majority of the cases are from the country's financial capital, Mumbai.
