2005 Delhi serial blasts: Patiala House Court to pronounce verdict today

New Delhi: Patiala House Court, on Thursday, would pronounce judgement in 2005 Delhi serial blasts case that claimed 60 lives and injured about 100 people. On 29th October 2005, three explosions in Delhi killed 62 people and injuring about 100 people. The blasts came only two days before the important festival of Diwali. The bombs were triggered in two markets in central and south Delhi and in a bus in the Govindpuri area in the south part of the Delhi. Investigators believe that the Kashmir separatist/Islamic terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba was behind the attacks. The then President A P J Abdul Kalam condemned the blasts  and sent condolences to the bereaved and other victims. Timeline of blasts: The three blasts happened as follows
  • First blast took place in the Paharganj's main market near the New Delhi Railway Station at around 5:38 pm.
  • Second blast took place near a bus in Govindpuri area at 6:00 pm in the southern part of the Delhi.
  • The third explosion took place, within minutes of the second explosion, at 6:05 pm,  in South Delhi's busy Sarojini Nagar market.
