Facebook reportedly working on music feature "Talent Show" to take on Musical.ly app

Facebook's "Talent Show" is being seen as a direct competitor to famous music applications like Musical.ly and Dubsmash.

NEW DELHI: It is reported that social media giant Facebook is likely to introduce  a ‘Talent Show’ feature where users would make use of Facebook’s recently added music partnerships by recording themselves singing and submitting their audition for review amongst other users on the platform. If started, this feature is going to give a tough competition to musical.ly. The app also allows users to record themselves singing for 15 seconds and then upload and share the clip within the app for other users to discover. It is reported that the news comes after the social media giant signed a licensing deal with all major labels like Universal, Sony, and Warner. This will allow people to freely use the music of such music companies and the videos will not be taken down over strict copyright issues. A Twitter user named Jane Manchun Wong claims that she found a code and elements for a singing competition in the Facebook mobile app. She tweeted – “Facebook is working on Talent Show where users can pick a popular song and submit their singing audition for review. Feels like a cross between Musically and Fifteen Million Merits from Black Mirror,” The ‘Talent Show’ feature, which has not been confirmed officially, is expected to take will on the Chinese video social network app musical.ly and Dubsmash.
