Coronavirus Death Toll In Italy Soars Past 10,000; Why Is Fatality Rate So High There?

The death toll in Italy is now the highest in the world at 10,023. The fatality numbers in Italy are appalling as it has exceeded the total reported in China.

The coronavirus pandemic is hypercritically propagating a heavy toll on Italy as more than 10,000 people have died since the start of this wrecking pandemic. According to the latest data from the Civil Protection Agency, Italy's death toll is now the highest in the world at 10,023. Fatalities passed the grim milestone on Saturday, with an increase of 889 since the last figures were released on Friday, according to Italy's Civil Protection Agency. Italy is in absolute lockdown and as it moves in its sixth week of restrictions experts are alarmed with this seemingly high death rate. The fatality numbers in Italy are appalling as it has exceeded the total reported in China. With 92,472 confirmed cases of COVID-19, Italy appears to become the deadliest center of the pandemic.' Another reason for such a high death toll would be the number of people in a given area who require medical care and having a lot of severely ill people in a single region could overwhelm the medical system. It has been found that the new coronavirus can infect people of all ages, older adults, whose immune systems have declined with age, look like to be more vulnerable to becoming acutely ill after contracting the virus. National Institute of Health's (ISS) latest report demonstrates that in Italy, 85.6 percent of those who have died were over 70. The experts believe that the age distribution has played a substantial role in raising the fatality rate in Italy as the Mediterannean country has the second-oldest population in the world after Japan.
