Kerala BJP Gets Letter Claiming Life Threat To PM Modi During State Visit, Cops Launch Probe

The threat letter allegedly arrived at BJP headquarters on April 17.

Kerala BJP chief K Surendran reportedly received a letter claiming a life threat to PM Modi during his two-day visit to Kerala. The letter was reportedly sent by the one with the name Joseph Jonny, a resident of Ernakulam.

According to IANS, sources said, the letter allegedly arrived at BJP headquarters on April 17. Following this, Surendran handed over the letter to the police.

"We handed over the threat letter to the police. It's also baffling to note that an intelligence report of the Kerala Police mentions strong presence of terrorist and anti-national forces in the state and it's baffling as one doesn't know if the timing of the report comes at a time when the PM is visiting or is it something else," Surendran said IANS.

Later, the police looked out for the sender and narrowed down Jonny. However, Johnny denied having any knowledge of the letter.

PM Modi is scheduled to arrive in Kochi on April 24 to take part in a roadshow. PM Modi will also address a youth meeting and participate in a meeting with supreme heads of nine different Churches.

On April 25, PM Modi will reach Thiruvananthapuram to flag off the Vande Bharat Express and he will then inaugurate a few other projects from Central Stadium. The PM will then leave for Gujarat.

Taking to Twitter, Kerala BJP state president K Surendran said, "As the sun rises over the bustling streets of Kerala, there is a palpable sense of excitement & anticipation in the air. On the 24th we are hosting a very special guest, a man whose influence reaches beyond the borders, whose leadership has captivated the world. #KeralamAwaitsModi."
