Chhath Puja 2022: Devotees In Delhi To Perform Arghya Despite NGT Not Permitting Offerings At Yamuna?
Regarding the Chhath Puja, DJB officials spread chemicals on the surface of the river to remove the toxic foam formed by the high levels of pollutants from the water.
New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) ordered that no offerings be permitted in the Yamuna River regarding any of the festive rituals.
Nevertheless, Delhi Government decorated the ITO ghat of the Yamuna river for the devotees offering Sandhya and Usha arghya for celebrating Kartika Chhath, news agency ANI reported.
In this four-day festival, the third day is observed as sandhya arghya and the fourth day as Usha Arghya. People pray to the lord sun during the sunset and sunrise to seek their blessings.
This is the only Vedic festival dedicated to the Sun God. People prefer to offer the arghya mainly in Ganga and Yamuna Rivers along with taking a holy dip.
Delhi Jal Board officials sprayed chemicals into the river to handle the issue of toxic foam formation on the surface taking Note of the Chhath Puja.

In Chhath, people express their gratitude to the Sun God and it is mostly celebrated on the banks of rivers. This festival is mainly celebrated in North India, majorly Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
The DJB officials spread chemicals on the surface of the river near Kalindi Kunj. The main aim of this spread is to remove the toxic foam formed by the high levels of pollutants from the water.
Residents of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and the other areas of NCR head towards the Yamuna River to take a holy bath in the river to pray and seek grace for a healthy, happy and prosperous life.
Devotees observe a 36-hour Nirjala Vrat fast in the Chhath and worship the Chhathi Maiya who is known as the sister of the Sun God. With so many rituals and precautions, this is one of the toughest fasts for people. Vratis ask for a sustainable life on the earth, prosperous life for their child and other family members.
