Breaking News LIVE, October 28, 2021: Hello and Welcome to ABP News LIVE Blog!Around 11 crore people who have taken the first shot of COVID-19 vaccine have not got themselves jabbed with the second dose even after the expiry of the prescribed interval between two doses, according to government data shared by PTI.
The data showed that over 3.92 crore beneficiaries are more than six weeks overdue for their second Covid dose, around 1.57 crore are up to four to six weeks late, and more than 1.50 crore are up to two to four weeks overdue for their second shot of either Covishield or Covaxin.
Also, over 3.38 crore people are up to two weeks overdue to becoming fully vaccinated.
This issue was discussed in a meeting chaired by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya with health ministers and representatives of all states and Union territories on Wednesday. They were asked to focus on such beneficiaries who are overdue for their second dose, official sources said.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday drew parallels between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and German dictator Adolf Hitler and alleged that BJP is destroying India just like Hitler destroyed Germany.
Taking to Twitter, the Congress leader said, "The final phase of the election has arrived. Now everyone in BJP will say "Hinduism is in danger, vote for BJP to save it." BJP does the same thing Hitler used to do. BJP is destroying India just like Hitler destroyed Germany."
Centre Extends Covid-Related Restrictions Across India Till November 30
Ahead of the upcoming festive season, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday extended the existing Covid-related restrictions across the country till November 30.
"In exercise of the powers, conferred under Section 10(2)(1) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the undersigned hereby directs that the order of the MHA, dated 28th September, 2021, to ensure compliance with the prompt and effective containment measures for Covid-19, as conveyed vide Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), dated 21st September, 2021, will remain in force up to the 30th November, 2021," the MHA order read.

Breaking News LIVE: Singapore Witnesses 'Unusual Surge' As Country Records Over 5,000 Daily Covid Cases
Singapore's Covid-19 daily case count surged above 5,000 for the first time due to an unusual spike within a few hours, which health ministry officials are looking into.
A total of 5,324 new cases were detected as of 12 p.m. Wednesday, with 4,651 in the community and 661 in the migrant-worker dormitories, the Ministry of Health said in its daily status report. There are 66 critically ill patients who are intubated in intensive-care units, and 76 unstable and under close monitoring.
"The infection numbers are unusually high today, mostly due to many Covid-positive cases detected by the testing laboratories within a few hours in the afternoon," the release said. "MOH is looking into this unusual surge in cases within a relatively short window, and closely monitoring the trends for the next few days."
