PM To Address Poll Rally In Bengal's Raiganj on Tuesday
Ahead of the scheduled Lok Sabha polls, PM Modi is scheduled to address the first-ever public meeting at Raiganj in West Bengal's North Dinajpur district on Tuesday.
According to IANS, District BJP President Basudeb Sarkar remarked, "We expect a massive gathering of around 1 lakh people for the Prime Minister's rally on Tuesday. It will be the first time that a Prime Minister will address a public meeting in Raiganj. So the excitement among the people is huge. Even the supporters of the rival political parties are excited."
PM Modi has already addressed several election rallies in West Bengal, which started even before the Election Commission announced the dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
At every rally, the Prime Minister launched scathing attacks against the ruling Trinamool Congress, especially on the events of sexual harassment of women at Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district.
State BJP sources said the party leaders are also expecting the Prime Minister to refer to the attack on a National Investigation Agency (NIA) team at Bhupatinagar in East Midnapore district on April 6 during his speech on Tuesday.
Priyanka Gandhi To Hold Roadshow In Tripura
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is slated to address an election rally and participate in a roadshow in Agartala on April 16. This event marks the first major campaign event for the I.N.D.I.A bloc in Tripura during the Lok Sabha polls, as confirmed party official.
Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and former minister Sudip Roy Barman mentioned the challenges they faced in organizing the event due to a shortage of vehicles for transporting party supporters from remote areas of the state.
"In view of the transportation-related problems, we are unable to organise a big gathering in Agartala where Priyanka Gandhi can address the people. But she would address a small gathering in Agartala during the roadshow," Sudip Roy Barman said, IANS reported.
Roy Barman also commented on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's planned election rally in Agartala on April 17, expressing confidence that the ruling BJP would have "sufficient vehicles" available.
"The ruling side always has an advantage. We had enquired, but several vehicles were booked for campaigning. Often, they (transport operators) return advance money even after taking orders for vehicles," said Roy Barman.
