WBBPE TET To Be Held On Dec 24

The West Bengal Board of Primary Education said on Tuesday that more than 3 lakh applicants would take the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) on December 24.

Goutam Paul, the board's president, stated that all preparations had been completed to hold the exam in 743 locations across the state, including five in Kolkata.

“All preparations have been made to conduct TET in 743 centres, with around 3.1 lakh candidates likely to write their papers,” he told reporters.

The exams are held to fill positions in state-run and aided elementary schools.

TET will be held easily on December 24, according to Education Minister Bratya Basu.

For the second year in a row, the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) is holding TET to fill approximately 10,000 vacancies.

TET was held after a five-year hiatus in December 2022, when Paul announced that the test will henceforth be administered annually to accelerate the recruiting process.

The 2014 TET results were marred by controversy due to suspected anomalies in the recruiting process, and the CBI is conducting an inquiry in accordance with directions issued by the Calcutta High Court.

Maratha Quota's Deadline Ends On Dec 24

Asserting that 80 percent of the struggle for Maratha reservation had been won and that the war was nearing its end, quota activist Manoj Jarange claimed on Friday that the Maharashtra government had just two days to meet the demand.

Addressing a rally in Selu, Parbhani district, Maharashtra's Marathwada area, Jarange urged the crowd to be cautious and stated that the time has come for the Maratha people to win reservation.

Jarange has gone on indefinite hunger strike twice this year in order to gain quota for the Maratha people. He said that the administration was given 40 days to fix the problem, but nothing occurred. The administration was later given until December 24 to remedy the matter.

If the government does not solve the matter by then (December 24), the community will march towards Mumbai, tightening the state's "economic" noose.
