Hindus Hold Majority In Bihar, Says Caste Survey
According to the report, HIndus are in majority in Bihar with 81 per cent and Muslims are 17 per cent. Hindus in Bihar are 10,71,92, 958 which is around 81 percent whereas the number of Muslims are five times less than Hindus. The number of Muslims in Bihar are 2 crore 31 lakh 49 thousand 925 which is around 17%. The number of Christians is 75,238, Sikhs are 14753, Buddhists are 1,11,201 and Jains are 12,523.
Census Not Only Revealed Castes But Also Gave Information About Everyone's Economic Condition: Nitish Kumar
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reacted to the caste census report and said that all the nine parties of Bihar Assembly decided that the state government will conduct caste based census from its own resources. He further said that the census not only revealed the castes but also gave information about everyone's economic condition.
Nitish Kumar took to X and said, "Today, on the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the data of caste based census conducted in Bihar has been published. Many congratulations to the entire team engaged in the work of caste based enumeration! The proposal for caste based enumeration was passed unanimously in the Legislature. It was decided with the consent of all the 9 parties of Bihar Assembly that the state government will conduct caste based census from its own resources and its approval was given from the Council of Ministers on 02-06-2022. On this basis, the state government has conducted caste based census from its own resources. Caste based census not only revealed the castes but also gave information about the economic condition of everyone. On this basis, further action will be taken for the development and upliftment of all sections. Soon a meeting of the same 9 parties of Bihar Assembly will be called regarding the caste based census conducted in Bihar and they will be informed about the results of the caste based census."
