'What Does Essential Even Mean?': Anil Ambani's Son Anmol Objects To Covid Curbs For Businesses

The Reliance Capital director Anmol Ambani has hit out at Maharashtra authorities for terming works of actors, professional cricketers and politicians as 'essential' but not allowing the businessmen to continue on regular terms.

Reliance Group chairman Anil Ambani's son Anmol Ambani has raised objections on restrictions imposed on businesses amid surge in Coronavirus cases in the state. The Reliance Capital director has hit out at Maharashtra authorities for terming works of actors, professional cricketers and politicians as essential but not allowing the businessmen to continue on regular terms.

Taking to his Twitter account, the elder son of Anil Ambani accused the administration of categorising work based on priority.

"Professional ‘actors’ can continue shooting their films. Professional ‘cricketers’ can play their sport late into the night. Professional ‘politicians’ can continue their rallies with masses of people. But YOUR business or work is not ESSENTIAL.  Still don’t get it?" the elder son of Anil Ambani said.

In a following tweet, Anmol asked, "What does essential even mean? EACH INDIVIDUALS WORK IS ESSENTIAL TO THEM."

On Sunday, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced to impose complete lockdown across the state on the weekends starting from 8 PM on Friday, which will remain in effect till 7 AM on Monday.

The cabinet said that during the Coronavirus-induced lockdown, only essential services will be permitted. Meanwhile, section 144 and night curfew will be imposed on the regular weekdays.

As per the guidelines, cinema halls, parks, museums, and all the religious places will remain closed for public gatherings. Restaurants too will remain shut however, the eateries are permitted for take away and parcel services. For offices, employees will have to work from home.
