Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video Review: Full-On Entertainer With Powerful Message, Rajkummar Rao And Triptii Dimri Steal Hearts

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video review: Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri starrer is a perfect blend of entertainment and a relevant social message.

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video review: Rajkummar Rao has been receiving accolades since his debut, and even Akshay Kumar has once remarked that Rao should start giving acting lessons to other actors. This year truly belongs to Rajkummar, with his films earning critical praise and raking in big numbers at the box office. ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ is expected to follow suit. This film is a rollercoaster of comedy, and once again, Rajkummar Rao delivers a stellar performance, beautifully complemented by Triptii Dimri.

'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' storyline

Set in 1997, the story revolves around Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and Vidya (Triptii Dimri), a newlywed couple who record their wedding night on video, intending to revisit it whenever they feel like it, or even use it to resolve their future arguments. However, a burglary occurs in their house, and the video CD goes missing. What follows is a comical chase to recover the CD, leading to a series of hilarious events that keep the audience thoroughly entertained.

How is 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video'?

From the very beginning, the film sets the tone with non-stop laughter. The one-liners are fantastic, and the movie quickly dives into the heart of the plot. The first half is outstanding, filled with non-stop comedy that has you laughing out loud. It makes you reminisce about the last time you laughed so hard at a film—much like the joy ‘Stree’ brought to its viewers.

While the second half becomes a tad melodramatic with the addition of an unnecessary subplot, the overall experience remains enjoyable. The film even offers a meaningful message that resonates with today's social climate, particularly regarding the misuse of private videos and the societal pressure that leads individuals to take drastic steps. Despite the brief dramatic detour, the film never bores you. It keeps you entertained, delivers a message, and makes you laugh—what more could one ask for?

Performances

Rajkummar Rao once again steals the show. His comic timing is impeccable, and he embodies the character of Vicky so perfectly that it’s hard to imagine anyone else in the role. Every frame he’s in is a delight. Triptii Dimri, too, shines with her confident performance, and she has truly come into her own as an actress. Her portrayal of Vidya is convincing, and for those who doubted her acting prowess, this film should put those concerns to rest.

Vijay Raaz’s performance is equally commendable, delivering lines that land perfectly for laughs. Mallika Sherawat does a decent job, though it feels strange seeing her in a smaller role. Tiku Talsania is fantastic as the grandfather, and Rakesh Bedi brings plenty of humour to the screen. Archana Puran Singh, though a bit over the top, adds to the comic chaos.

Direction and Writing

Raj Shaandilyaa’s writing is top-notch, and his direction keeps the pace snappy and the humour rolling. The script, particularly in the first half, is exceptional, delivering laughs in abundance. Although the second half strays slightly, Shaandilyaa manages to bring the story back on track, making for an overall delightful watch.

'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' final verdict

'Vicky Vidya...' is a perfect blend of entertainment and a relevant social message. It’s a film that will make you laugh and leave you with something to think about. Definitely a must-watch!
