This month is the fifth month of the year according to the Hindu calendar. The month of Sawan is also known as the month of Shravan. This Shravan month is dedicated to Lord Shiva Shankar. Lord Shiva's jalabhishek is also performed in this month. With this, Lord Shiva takes away all their sufferings by showering his grace on the devotees.
In Hinduism, there is a law to fast on all Mondays of Sawan. There are total four Mondays in the month of Sawan of 2021. According to the Hindu calendar, the month of Sawan will start from 25 July and will end on 22 August. During this, there are a total of four Mondays whose dates are mentioned below. Significance of Sawan Somvar fast
The month of Sawan is very dear to Lord Shiva. During this time Lord Shiva is responsible for taking care of the earth and thus, he roams the earth. Shiva devotees bring kavad in this month and perform Jalabhishek of Shiva with the water of Ganga filled in that kavad. In the month of Sawan, they worship Shiva by keeping a fast on Monday. This makes lord Shiva happy and he fulfills all the wishes of his devotees. He eliminates all their troubles. It is believed that by observing a fast on Monday by unmarried girls and worshiping Lord Shiva, he grants them the boon of getting the desired groom.
