Resort Weddings — The New Trend For Intimate, Personalised Celebrations

A resort wedding enfolds the perfect merger of scenic beauty, casual luxury, and heartfelt celebrations.

In a growing contemporary trend, couples planning their weddings are increasingly going beyond opulence and embracing tranquillity, personalisation, and unforgettable memories shared with close ones. A resort wedding enfolds the perfect merger of scenic beauty, casual luxury, and heartfelt celebrations. Couples today are opting for resort destinations not purely for the backdrop but for the sensory experience – be it a barefoot ceremony at the beach or an intimate vow exchange along the verdant landscapes.

Today, a resort wedding sums itself up simply with elegance and soul — from curated decor and wellness-orientated itineraries to custom touches and gourmet meals.

Entertainment Meets Calm:

Resort wedding provides new spins on a celebration; a celebration that is exciting yet soothes the mind. Morning yoga sessions, cocktail tasting, and spa therapies are fast becoming fixtures in modern couples' wedding itinerary.

“Modern couples are redefining weddings, they want celebrations that are personal, minimal, and meaningful." shares Vidya Sagar, General Manager of Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve.

Mr Atul Upadhyay of Pride Hotels Group suggests to elevate the experience of the guests with personalised welcome gifts, which could include artsy baskets with local delicacies, refreshing drinks, sunscreen, and a heartfelt handwritten note. "Adding a customized itinerary with activities like yoga sessions, guided nature walks, or cocktail tastings can add volumes to their experience" he further adds.

What Resorts Provide Beyond Their Venue:

The most attractive aspect of a resort wedding is the effortless planning experience; luxury resorts don't let their guests walk through the entirety of event coordination by themselves, they'll take care of arrangements from logistics to vendor coordination, all with their professional in-house teams.

“Thoughtful planning is the key to achieving the desired setting for a memorable celebration,” says Mr. Atul Upadhyay, Executive Vice President at Pride Hotels Group

At Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island, General Manager Fabien Chesnais suggests that the professional wedding planning team manages every aspect, from vendor coordination to logistics, so that couples can focus on creating memorie and enjoying their special moments.

Some resorts offer the option of full resort buyouts, transforming the venue into a private celebration space. Whether it’s beachfront chalets or expansive lawns, the flexibility appeals to couples seeking both grandeur and intimacy.

Decoration In Nature:

Minimal, earthy themes complement most resorts' lush landscapes and open-air venues, from which most draw their inspiration for what becomes a minimalist, earthy theme: natural elegance.

Mr. Akash Agarwal,  the owner and Visionary Director, Rajasthali Resort and Spa; suggests to begin with a décor style that draws from nature — soft palettes, earthy textures, flowing fabrics, and thoughtful floral arrangements. Let the setting do the talking, with touches that feel organic rather than ornate.

On the other hand, Mr Upadhyay recommends “neutral tones, organic textures, and nature-inspired elements” for a harmonious look.

The emphasis now resides on letting the site breathe – the role of the setting itself as an actor in the visual storytelling of the wedding.

Interactive And Immersive Culinery Experience:

Food is not only supposed to be for weddings at resorts; it goes beyond the regular buffet which one has at the wedding. In the days to come, the celebrations will be seeking customers for interactive and immersive culinary experiences that would certainly keep the guests delighted at every turn.

“Live grill stations, seafood and chaat bars, or custom dessert counters encourage guests to explore and engage,” says Mr Agarwal.

Resort weddings often feature diverse and flavorful culinary options, including live food stations, regional specialties, and indulgent desserts, designed to delight guests and enhance the festive atmosphere.

It is in these weddings where one gives a different twist by creating personalised participatory food experiences in which the dining experience becomes one with the wedding vows, memorable.
