Narak Chaturdashi 2021: Narak Chaturdashi is celebrated on the next day of Dhanteras in the five-day-long Diwali festival. It is believed that it helps bring serenity and prosperity to the house.
Narak Chaturdashi 2021: According to Panchang, the Chaturdashi will start at 09:02 am on November 3, 2021, and end at 06:03 am on November 4, 2021. The length of the tithi may increase or decrease due to Panchang bhed. Thus Roop Chaudas or Narak Chaturdashi will be celebrated on November 3.
Things To Do On Narak Chaturdashi:
1. Place oil diya at the main gate for Yamaraj on this day.
2. On this day after worshiping the deities, light oil lamps and keep them on both sides of the door frame of the house and outside the house. It is believed that by doing this, Goddess Lakshmi resides in the house of the devotees.
3. On this day, waste should be thrown from the house during Nishith Kaal(midnight time). Poverty is eradicated.
How To Bath
1. It is important to get up before sunrise and bathe, it is said that it enhances the appearance. For bathing, on Kartik Ahoi Ashtami, one has to use water kept in a copper vessel and mix it with the bathwater. According to the belief, by doing this one gets freedom from the fear of hell.
2. It is customary to use Apamarga (Chirchira) plant three times above the head in a circular motion and use sesame oil for massaging during bathing.
3. After bathing, pray to Yamraj with folded hands facing the south direction. By doing this, sins are destroyed.
Narak Chaturdashi Puja Vidhi
1. On this day these six gods are worshipped. Yamraj, Sri Krishna, Kali Mata, Lord Shiva, Ramdoot Hanuman, and Bhagavan Vaman are worshipped.
2. Worship in the northeast corner of the house. Face the east or north direction. Install Panchdev at the time of worship, which includes Suryadev, Shri Ganesha, Durga, Shiva, Vishnu.
3. Perform the Shodashopachar puja of six gods on this day. It includes padya, arghya, achaman, bath, clothes, ornaments, scent, flowers, incense, lamp, nevaidya, tambul, stavpath, tarpan, and namaskar. In the end, dakshina should also be offered to denote completion of the puja.
4. Light incense, lamp in front of everyone and apply turmeric, sandalwood, and rice on the head. During the puja, the gandha should be applied with the ring finger. Use all the required ingredients of Shodashopachar puja and keep chanting mantras.
5. Offer prasad or naivedya (bhog) after the puja. Keep in mind that salt, chilli and oil are not used in naivedya. Tulsi leaf is placed on the dish.
6. After the main puja, light diyas in the main gate or courtyard during the pradosh period. Also, light a lamp in the name of Yama. Light diyas in all corners of the house at night.
