The Monsoon-Mind Connection — Beating Anxiety With Calming Aromatherapy Rituals

Aromatherapy is the use of natural essential oils for balancing and lifting the mind's stress as well as calming it's surroundings.

The rainy season surely has its charm — the sound of raindrops, soothing music, and tea. At the same time, however, gray skies, dim lighting, and being cooped up indoors for long period of time can take a toll on your mood. An overwhelming amount of people feel anxious or low on energy during the monsoon season. This is where aromatherapy comes to the rescue.

Aromatherapy is the use of natural essential oils for balancing and lifting the mind's stress as well as calming it's surroundings. The goal is not just making the air pleasant and sweet smelling. It focuses on how the scent can be a useful tool to alter one's feelings and help one’s emotions improve naturally.

Let the Right Scent Lift Your Mood

Rather than lavender or eucalyptus oil, you can experiment with gentle and unique blends that complement the rainy season.

  • Neroli oil is a good example. It is a soft floral oil that helps in relaxing and tranquilizing stressful thoughts and aids in calm and deep sleep. Simply add few drops to the diffuser or pillow before sleeping and transform your rest.
  • Ylang Ylang is another superb option. Its sweet and exotic aroma is wonderful for balancing emotions as well as relieving anxiety. It is perfect when you are feeling mentally fatigued on long rainy days.
  • To soothe restlessness, try Vetiver. Known as the “oil of stillness” its earthy scent is grounding and helps you feel stable and focused. It is great for calm, quiet evenings or meditative moments during the monsoon.

Fresh Air And Mental Clarity Indoors

The humidity can become stifling. If you need to clear the air, Rosalina oil is a great option. Gentle like lavender, Rosalina also clears the air and mental fog.
For those feeling down or stagnant, Rosalina gently uplifts stagnant energy by offering a soft and calm scent. Looking to elevate your mood then you should try Mandarin oil. This cheerful extract aids in reducing restlessness while promoting joy. It is perfect for post work refreshers or early morning get up and go’s.

Create A Cozy Aromatherapy Routine

You can begin your monsoon routine by enjoying aromatherapy during this period. Light a scented candle and play soothing music, letting your preferred essential oil diffuse throughout the room. This brief period — 15 minutes or so — can make a substantial difference in your readiness to tackle daily challenges.
Additionally, you can blend a few drops of oil with water and spray it around your room or mix it into your bath. Whether you're busy, unwinding, or simply enjoying the rain, these bites of aromatherapy help ease the mind while lifting your spirits.

While beautiful, the monsoon season can weigh heavily on one’s emotions. With the appropriate essential oils, however, you can emotionally elevate your surroundings and help provide warmth and comfort, as well as balance. Suggested calming scents, for transforming rainy days into peaceful, feel-good moments, are Neroli, Ylang Ylang, Vetiver, Rosalina, and Mandarin.
