Karwa Chauth honours the magnificence of marriage and the piety of a bond between a couple. This day is important because it symbolises the love that women have for the tradition of marriage.

New Delhi: Every year, married Hindu women mark the one-day festival of Karwa Chauth, during which they fast from dawn to moonrise and offer prayers for their husbands' health and longevity. Unmarried ladies who pray in the hopes of finding a desirable life partner also commemorate the event. According to the Hindu lunar calendar, it occurs on the fourth day of the dark fortnight (also known as Krishna Paksha or the declining phase of the moon). The time period typically varies from mid to late October. The North Indian states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan are where it is primarily observed.
