Jewellery Forecast At Cannes 2025 And Foreseen Trends

The Cannes red carpet is the most iconic showcase of global fashion and jewellery trends; the kind of trends that will shape the market and influence brands in the coming year.

The curtains on the glamour-soaked and glittering red carpet of the 78th Cannes Film Festival 2025 have just dropped — bringing to a close our peek into the fashionable world of cinema royalty from across the globe, and the things they deem fancy. From fashion houses that are practically royalty to emerging design voices, the red carpet transformed into a kaleidoscope of innovation, colour, and craftsmanship.

The Cannes red carpet is the most iconic showcase of global fashion and jewellery trends, a preview of what will soon trickle down to us; the kind of trends that will shape the market and influence brands in the coming year.

Big Stones And Vibrant Tones

If there was one theme that defined Cannes 2025, it was the unapologetic embrace of vibrant, vivid gemstones. A-listers abandoned minimalism in favour of maximalist pieces that simply couldn’t be ignored. Irina Shayk wore giant yellow diamond earrings that shone brighter than the sun, while Alessandra Ambrosio stunned in a tanzanite and diamond set that turned heads and stole hearts.

This emphasis on colour signals a shift: jewellery is becoming more expressive, personal, and unconventional. For Indian consumers, long drawn to the expressive power of coloured stones, this is a culturally resonant trend. The increasing demand for coloured gemstones and one-of-a-kind enamel accents has been observed especially among younger buyers who want their jewellery to reflect their personalities.

Statement Pieces Will Rule the Jewellery Scene

Gone are the days when subtlety reigned—  Cannes 2025 has shown the low-key looks that are now passé, best exemplified by our very own Urvashi Rautela. Her jaw-dropping look, complete with a tiara, parrot clutch, and jewellery featuring some of the world’s rarest gemstones — is a masterclass in red carpet drama. Janhvi Kapoor’s stand out sculptural earrings and dramatic jade necklace that plunged down her back added to the trend of jewellery taking centre stage.

This is expected to be seen more during India’s upcoming wedding and festive seasons, where maximalism already has deep roots. Modern women are more likely to opt for unique, conversation-starting pieces.

Earrings Are The New It Pieces

Another notable shift? The rise of moderation with impact. Celebrities like Juliette Binoche stepped out in neckpiece-free looks, proving that when earrings do the talking, less is truly more. Her marquise diamond studs, framed by cascading strands of brilliance, embodied understated power and elegance. And of course, who can forget the stunning Alia Bhatt, with her pearl earrings, bodycon dress and dazzling neckline that stole the show. This minimalist-maximalist contrast—fewer pieces, big impact—is resonating with Indian urban consumers. Millennials and Gen Z are choosing sleek silhouettes and striking earrings, embracing a cleaner, cosmopolitan aesthetic over traditional layering.

Diamonds Are Back!

Diamonds were everywhere — but with a twist. Eva Longoria’s ethereal style reminded us that when set creatively, diamonds still dazzle. But today’s luxury is not just about size or shine—it’s about storytelling, and sustainability is now part of that story.

Customers want to know that their dazzling pieces are ethically made. Neha Malik, making her second appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, wearing Ribbonia set — a moissanite-studded design crafted to glow like delicate ribbons and bows. The sparkles of tomorrow aren’t just dazzling — they’re conscious, reflecting mindful craftsmanship and modern values.

Layers Upon Layers

If there was one visual hallmark of Cannes 2025, it was layering, executed with drama and finesse. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan stole the show by layering a ruby necklace with a bold choker, creating a regal, unforgettable look.

This layering trend, long popular in India’s bridal traditions, is evolving into something more modern. People now mix metals, experiment with texture, and blend vintage with contemporary elements to create standout styles. Increasingly, customers are drawn to modular jewellery, pieces that can be layered up or down depending on mood or occasion.

Jewellery And Fashion In India

The Cannes red carpet has always been a global style barometer, but this year’s alignment with Indian jewellery sensibilities was especially striking. Big colours, bold forms, symbolic stones, and sustainable luxury, trends gaining popularity among today’s Indian consumers are deeply rooted in traditional Indian jewellery-making practices.
