Holi 2023: Tips To Save Water During This Festival
Holi, being a festival of colours, results in a huge wastage of water. But, we should make certain efforts to reduce this as much as possible.
New Delhi: Holi is just around the corner and the country is gearing up to celebrate the festival of colours. Although it is known by different names in different parts of the country, the festival is celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm. Children particularly enjoy tossing water balloons at onlookers and throwing colours at one another as well. It is said that the spirit of Holi fosters a sense of brotherhood in society.
But, during Holi, there is a huge wastage of water as well. Here are a few tips by which you can minimise the usage of water and prevent the loss of water at a large scale.
1. Prior to going outside to exercise, oil your hair. Your tresses will have a layer of protection thanks to this. Even if you do end up dying your hair, just one wash may be sufficient to remove the colour.
2. Use natural colours because they are secure and simple to clean. If you have colour all over your body then you can put some coconut oil or cream on the colour on your body to start the fading process. Following this, a quick wash will make you clean without the need for vigorous scrubbing. In this way, water will also be conserved.
3. Wear old, dark-coloured clothes when playing Holi so that washing them won't require a lot of water and effort.
4. If you're playing inside or on a balcony, spread a tarpaulin on the ground so that you can easily wash off the paint from it to avoid having to mop the floor with detergent.
5. Wear some of your old, dark-coloured clothes that have been stashed in the back of your wardrobe while celebrating Holi! This way you can save water because you won't need to use a lot of scrubbing and cleaning if your garments are dark-coloured.
