Happy Ganesh Chaturthi 2021: The 10-day long festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with a lot of pomp and grandeur every year. However, the festivities will remain muted this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Festivities will begin from September 10 and are celebrated across the country including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Odisha, Goa, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh.
The festival will come to an end on September 19. Ganesh Chaturthi usually falls on the fourth day of the waxing phase of the moon in the month of Bhadrapada as per the Hindu calendar.
It is believed that Lord Ganesha prevents all obstacles while doing any auspicious work. People worship Lord Ganesha before starting any new work. The festival ends with Lord Ganesha's farewell on the day of Anant Chaturdashi which will be celebrated on September 19.

Devotees of Lord Ganesha bring idols of deity and place them inside homes or public places for worshipping. These beautiful idols are later taken out in a procession before being immersed in a water body.
Lord Ganesha is revered as the God of wisdom, prosperity, good fortune, and the destroyer of evils. Owing to these qualities, he is also known as Vighnaharta and the day of Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinayaka Chavithi or Vinayaka Chaturthi. Devotees offer Lord Ganesha modak and motichoor laddu which is distributed as prasad after the puja.
