Love In The Times Of A Pandemic: Couples Get Married, Continue Dating Virtually

Around the world, couples are not letting the pandemic ruin their special day and are get married online. Dating apps too have had a surge in activities. While nobody can go out to actually to meet their dates, they are taking their boredom to dating apps to talk to new people.

New Delhi: While it may seem grim that Saturday night plans have come to a halt because of the lockdown there are couples around the globe who had to cancel their wedding because of the ongoing crisis. For many couples, the thought of not sharing their special day with their friends and families seems like horrific thought, but some couples getting married was a lot more important. Settling for dresses from their cupboards and changing locations to their apartment and instead of setting tables for guests of hundreds, they decided to get married online and have the most important ones view online. Like this Delhi-Mumbai couple who got married over a video conference call, they had their friends and family join in the conference. The ceremony went on for 2 hours which included celebratory speeches and dance! The couple will get married again in a traditional Sikh ceremony when the lockdown is over. A couple in Toronto got married in their apartment with only their parents as witnesses and the rest of their guests joining in through video conferencing apps. An American couple live-streamed their wedding on a social media app and a wedding which was supposed to have 60 guests had 3000 viewers! Australian couple took to the location from their second date and had their family and friends attend through a video conferencing app. Dating apps too have had a surge in activities. While nobody can go out to actually to meet their dates, they are taking their boredom to dating apps to talk to new people. The conversations have become longer and more people have joined into these apps ever since the lockdown. There are in fact profile bios state they are one these apps because of the lockdown. Looks like the lockdown cannot stop people from finding a or marrying a significant other.
