As Cold Wave Is Freezing Everything Around, Let's Revisit DOs & DONTs For Winter Skincare

The proper skincare routine will work all year if you follow it consistently, but there are a few tweaks you can make to avoid seasonal side effects. Check out these skincare suggestions.

While your winter mood board is most likely comprised of comfortable sweaters, hot chocolate, and plump skin. However, when the temperature drops, our skin loses moisture and natural oils, leaving it feeling dry and unmanageable. Our skin appears to go from healthy and plump to dry and cracked in an instant.

If you follow the right skincare routine consistently, it will work all year, but there are a few adjustments you may do to reduce seasonal side effects. To ensure that your skin stands up to the cold days ahead, Pond's India shared all the skincare dos and don’ts of the season:

Do’s:

Cleanse In-Cleanse Out:

It should go without saying that you should wash your face, right? It is best if you wash and exfoliate at the same time. As this time of the year, skin gets flaky, and opting for a gentle exfoliant once a week, facewash helps you cleanse your pores deeply, making it easier for your skin to absorb the goodness of the next steps of your routine.

One Drop Of Serum:

Healthy skin requires hydration and nourishment regardless of the season. And, one drop of Serum can go a long way and bring in the magic just like this season. The serum penetrates deeper into the skin than creams or moisturizers, resulting in an extremely high concentration of active ingredients that improve the skin's hydration inside out.

Moisturiser Everyday:

Regardless of what your skin type is or what season it is, your skin can never get enough of that much-needed hydration and nourishment. In addition to being highly effective, the cream is also very gentle, and non-sticky making it suitable for all skin types.

Less Is More:

Making your makeup and skincare routine more suited to the cold and dry climate will make you look stunning while maintaining an au-natural appearance. This season, it's best to use minimal products to create a flawless base that gives you a subtle yet sophisticated appearance.

Don'ts:

Don't Forget The H2O Intake:

As we enter the Holiday season, there will be a lot of other drinks to choose from, such as alcohol-based beverages and other hot drinks, which can lead to dry skin due to their diuresis effects and are enticing you to choose them over plain water. Before the skin dehydration kicks in, don’t forget to hydrate!

Stay Away From Harsh, Alcohol-Based Cleaners:

The best way to treat parched skin is to double cleanse - use a gel-based cleanser for the first cleanse and a water-based cleanser for the second. A lightweight facewash removes layers of brightness blocking dead skin cells and it strengthens the skin's natural renewal process, revealing new bright cells, making it perfect for this season.

Skincare Is A Must, But Don't Overdo It:

With so much happening this season and when everything feels like “Less is More” and “More is Less”. Trying to focus on the “simplicity is the best” rule when it comes to your skin, with many new launches for beauty products in the line, one feels compelled to try them all. Therefore, try not to enter the skin mixology game without first understanding the ingredients as this can only make your skin worse.

Get Up And Get Going:

There's nothing better than a warm blanket on a chilly night and an itchy holiday sweater but staying in bed isn't healthy for your body. Lack of exercise can cause your body to become loose and things inside to build up. No matter what you do, moving helps your skin detox, not to mention all the other benefits it gives to your body. So, this winter, get outside, get moving, and have fun!
