Karnataka Raj Bhavan Hoax Bomb Threat Caller Detained In Chittoor

Through technical surveillance, the police traced the caller to Chittoor, leading to the arrest of the accused, Bhakser, on Tuesday night.

The man who made a hoax bomb call threat to Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru was arrested from Chittor in Karnataka. The police on Wednesday said that the accused has been identified as Bhasker (34), a BCom graduate, hailing from Vadahalli village in Mulbagal taluk of Kolar district. Bhasker has been practicing agriculture.

On the night of December 11, police reported a phone call alleging the presence of a bomb inside Raj Bhavan, causing a stir among city law enforcement agencies.

Law enforcement personnel swiftly combed through the Governor's official residence, ultimately determining it to be a false alert.

The investigation uncovered that the suspect arrived in Bengaluru on Monday night. While passing Raj Bhavan, the individual searched Google for the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) control room contact number and placed a call asserting the existence of a bomb on the premises. City police promptly received notification of the threat and took appropriate measures. Subsequent investigations revealed the bomb threat to be a hoax, as confirmed by a senior police officer.

Initially, the call's origin was believed to be Bidar. After the alleged call, the mobile phone was discovered to be turned off. However, through technical surveillance, the police later traced the caller to Chittoor, leading to the arrest of the accused, Bhakser, on Tuesday night.
