Shimla: Six arrested for gang rape, murder of minor girl

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 13 (ANI): A total of six people have been arrested on Thursday in the recent gang rape and murder of a minor girl in Kotkhai region of Shimla district.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Himachal, which was headed by Inspector General of Police southern range, Zahoor Zaidi, had taken the six youth to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

The girl was a student at Mahasu government school in Kotkhai. While returning back from school, she was kidnapped and raped. This incident happened on July 4.

Two days later, police recovered her body from Halaila forests of Kotkhai.

The post-mortem report had revealed injury marks on the dead girl's body.

Earlier in the week, the Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had announced a reward of Rs. one lakh to anyone providing any information about the culprits.

This incident had sparked widespread outrage in the town and people came out to protest at many places, demanding immediate arrest of the accused. (ANI)
