Personal appearance of Punjab CM's son in criminal case stayed
Ludhiana (Punjab) [India], Aug 22 (ANI): Additional Sessions Judge of a Punjab court put a stay on personal appearance of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amrinder Singh's son Raninder Singh till September 7 in criminal case filed by Income Tax department.
Earlier in June, the Enforcement Directorate summoned Raninder for alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
Raninder was summoned by the agency at its Chandigarh office to explain the alleged movement of funds to Switzerland and creation of a trust and few subsidiaries in the tax haven of British Virgin Islands.
They said the alleged violations were earlier investigated by the Income Tax department and a criminal complaint was also filed by it in the court in Punjab.
The case came to fore when the Income Tax department received details of Raninder allegedly holding the offshore account in the Alpine nation as part of details received in this regard by the Central Board of Direct Taxes from their French counterparts in 2011. (ANI)
