If Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan fight together, can win Lok Sabha elections: Senior journalist

New Delhi [India], October 2 (ANI): A senior journalist on Monday said that if the two South superstars - Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan - fight together, there is a possibility of them doing reasonably well in the Lok Sabha elections 2019.

The statement comes after Rajinikanth said that merely fame and money are not enough to become successful in the politics.

Speaking to ANI here, journalist S. Venkat Narayan said, "Well, that's a sarcastic statement by Rajnikanth. Both Rajinikanth and Kamal Hasan have been rather active making statements. They are not very clear, but indicating that they are not disinclined to enter politics. They are still sizing up the ground. But if they join hands together there is a possibility of them doing reasonably good in the Lok Sabha elections 2019."

Narayan further said it is true that money, and fame are not enough to become successful in the politics as "you have to go to the grassroot level workers to lead you to the success."

Speaking at an inauguration ceremony of the veteran Tamil actor, Sivaji Ganesan's memorial, Rajinikanth had said, "If you have to succeed in politics, merely Cinema's name, fame, and money are not enough. Apart from this, there is something bigger which we need. May be Kamal Haasan knows what it is. If I had asked him two months ago, maybe he would have told me. Now, when I ask him, he says 'come with me, and I'll tell you'."

Rajinikanth said that Ganesan always gave them lessons, both in the field of cinema and politics.

"He participated in the elections and lost it and it not only brought a respect to him but also brought a bad name to his constituency people. So we must all learn a message from this. If you have to succeed in politics, merely cinema's name, fame, and money is not enough," he asserted.

The event saw Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan sharing the same stage.

Haasan had said that he would launch his own party soon.

He had also held meetings with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, but dismissed speculations of joining either.

Rajinikanth, meanwhile, had earlier said that he wanted to enter into the politics to "clean up the system." (ANI)
