Five killed after being run over by locomotive in UP

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Feb.26 (ANI): Five people were killed and two were critically injured after being run over by a train at Pilkhuwa railway station in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh.

The deceased, while crossing a railway track, were run over by a locomotive train yesterday near Pilkhuwa crossing.

Police said the victims, were either sitting on railway tracks or were trying to cross the railway tacks when the incident took place.

"We have information of five deaths and two others have been injured who have been rushed to hospital. The victims were on railway tracks when a goods' train was coming from one side," Superintendent of Police (GRP Moradabad), SC Dubey told ANI.

"In order to avoid the train, they moved to the other track where they were run over by a locomotive," Dubey added.

A case has been registered in this matter. (ANI)
