Delhi Govt. requests use for choppers to sprinkle water over state to fight pollution

New Delhi [India], October 23 (ANI): The Delhi Government on Monday wrote to the Centre requesting for use of choppers to sprinkle water to improve the national capital's air quality and curb air pollution during winters.

In a letter, Delhi Environment Minister Imran Hussain informed Union Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan that the state government was ready to bear the cost of the exercise, which aims to settle particulate matter in the air down and curb air pollution during winters.

Hussain also requested Vardhan to take up the matter with the Civil Aviation Ministry.

This act from the state government has come after the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on Sunday recorded an air quality of index (AQI) of 'very poor' with a score of 319 for New Delhi.

Post Diwali, on October 20, Delhi's air had turned 'severe' for the first time in 2017. Since then, it has markedly improved. (ANI)
