Coronavirus In India: India on Monday witnessed a major surge in its coronavirus tally with over 61,000 new cases and over 800 fatalities within a day. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that 61,408 new COVID-19 cases, 57,468 recoveries and 836 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
The total COVID-19 tally has now risen to 31,06,349 including 23,38,036 cured/discharged/migrated cases and 57,542 deaths, the Union Ministry of Health has stated.
India's journey to the 31-lakh mark Covid cases took 208 days since the emergence of the first case on January 30. On July 17, the country logged 10 lakh cases, which then doubled to 20 lakh in 20 days on August 7 and added over 10 lakh cases in just 16 days.
Important numbers
Looking at the silver line, the gap between recoveries and Covid-19 active cases continues to widen, the Ministry of health has stated. The recoveries are more than 3 times the active cases. India has managed to attain record 75% recovery rate as 57,468 recoveries were attained in the last 24 hours.
India’s recovery rate: 75.27% (23,38,035 Cured/Discharged/Migrated patients)
Positivity Rate: 22.88% Active cases (7,10,771)
Fatality Rate: 1.85% Deaths (57,542)
Worst-hit states:
Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state with a total of 6,82,383 cases and 22,253 deaths; followed by Tamil Nadu with 3,79,385 cases and 6,517 deaths. Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, West Bengal and Bihar come next.
