The Evergreen 'Dil Chahta Hai' Scene Hits A Different Chord As One Grows Older, See What Millennials Say

The film left its mark on the audience and hence it takes you down memory lane whenever you watch it. Not just that, we also experience different aspects as we grow up and it hits differently.

New Delhi: 'Dil Chahta Hai,' starring Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Akshaye Khanna, became a cultural sensation, with its release in 2001. Even more than two decades later, people are not over it. The film left its mark on the audience and hence it takes you down memory lane whenever you watch it. Not just that, we also experience different aspects as we grow up and it hits differently.

In this case, a Twitter user shared a clip from the film that depicts how we change on getting older. We get jobs, relocate, and gradually drift apart from our friends, but when we come across the old places, the memories come back to us, as if it was just yesterday that we had spent time there.

"When you are in your 40s, this scene from Dil Chahta Hai.. strikes a different chord about life.", said the Twitter user while sharing the clip.

The iconic scene sparked a conversation in the comments section and many netizens took the opportunity to express their views. One of them wrote, "Especially, when you are not in touch with people who were once your best buddies.... Life and priorities change with time!!", while another user said, "Just hits so different now, when you are in your late thirties, seemingly miles away from the ppl who once shared so many fond moments with you, those peals of laughter, those witty repartees"

The post took netizens into a rollercoaster of memories and they poured in their comments with a third one having written, "Just yesterday I felt such things when I visited my hometown after 3 years due to covid and other circumstances."

The story revolves around Akash, Sameer and Sid who were best friends in college but, upon graduating from college, walk on different paths of life. Sameer's parents want to arrange his marriage with their friends' daughter, while Akash's parents ask him to manage the family business abroad. On the other hand, Sid is busy trying to become a painter and is working to develop his skill.

The film focuses on a significant transition period in the three of them's romantic lives and was inspired by Akhtar's diary detailing his trips to Mumbai and New York City, as well as a story by a friend of his, Kassim Jagmagia, who would eventually become a creative associate at Excel Entertainment.
