Male actors don't get enough part in daily soaps: Vikram Singh Chauhan

Mumbai: Actor Vikram Singh Chauhan, who will next be seen in "Jana Na Dil Se Door", says the reason for him to join the upcoming TV show is that it gives equal credibility to each character unlike other daily soaps where "gents don't get enough part". Vikram, best known for his roles in shows like "Qubool Hai" and "Ek Hasina Thi", says he was doing "Million Dollar Girl", when he got an offer to star in "Jana Na Dil Se Door". "It was the same production house. They approached me for this show. They told me the story. I really liked the character that I'll be seen playing in this show because generally what happens is that in a TV show there is a lot for women to do in it and gents don't get enough part to portray," Vikram told IANS. "But I feel this show gives equal importance to both male and female characters. I read the story of this show like a book and not just focused on my character," he added. Vikram will be seen playing the role of a middle class boy named Atharva in the show, which will also feature Shivani Surve and Shilpa Tulaskar. "Atharva is very independent and focused about his life. He is never confused. He meets Vividha (Shivani), whose parents feel that a girl shouldn't be allowed to go out of the house after 8 p.m. That's where he comes and changes her mindset completely," Vikram said. Asked about his working experience in daily soaps, Vikram said: "So far, my experience doing daily soaps has been good. I feel lucky enough to do shows that have given enough credibility to my roles. The characters that I have played have all been good. Thankfully most of them are focused around me only." Set against the backdrop of Ajmer, Rajasthan, "Jana Na Dil Se Door" will feature the love story of a middle class boy and a well-to-do girl. The show will be aired on Star Plus starting May 9.
