Kaun Banega Crorepati 15: Amitabh Bachchan Shares His Angry Young Man Image Helped Remove Polio
Amitabh Bachchan shared a story about how his angry young man image helped to eradicate Polio from India.
New Delhi: Amitabh Bachchan is currently hosting ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ Season 15. In the latest episode, Amitabh Bachchan shared his happiness about Chandrayaan's landing on the moon's surface on August 23. Resuming the game with contestants Kunal Sinh Dodia, Amitabh Bachchan, the veteran actor and host asked him about the name of the horse that was yoked to the chariot drawn by Lord Krishna during the Kurukshetra war.
During the course of the episode, Mr Bachchan read out the audience question on Polio and a lady from the live audience won the hamper. After this, Amitabh Bcahchan shared an interesting anecdote from his life.
He shared a story about how his angry young man image helped to eradicate Polio from India. Amitabh Bachchan shared, "It was my honour to be a part of the polio campaign. We worked religiously for 8 years and had to put in a lot of effort. When we first started the campaign we did not meet success as people had different concepts in the mind related to the drops. I remember my creative director Piyush Pande advised that it is enough of requesting and urging people to take Polio drops and instead I should get angry. He said my image in the films is of angry young man and I am always angry which obviously I am not and I should bring that to life in the next campaign. Aap next campaign mein daant dijiye( laughs)."
Big B also added that later the WHO representative came to India to invite him to the UNO for felicitating him. "At that time the WHO representative, the lady revealed it to me that she visited a village where when she asked a mother about the campaign, she replied that she was given the drops this time. She also shared that initially she was not giving but when she saw me very angry she instantly gave their kids the drops. I Humne Amitabh ji ko naaraz dekha toh de diya drops).
