Ishqbaaaz: Drashti-Sanaya in contention to play the new female lead after Surbhi Chandna’s exit?

Star Plus much-loved show ‘Ishqbaaaz’ has been grabbing headlines these days after the news of the show taking a leap spread like fire on the internet. Fans are disappointed as Surbhi Chandna aka Anika will be quitting the show post the generation leap. Speculations are rife that Nakuul Mehta, who plays Surbhi’s on-screen husband Shivaay Oberoi, will also bid adieu to the romantic drama. However, gossip mills also are buzzing with the rumours that Nakuul might continue his stint in the show as Shivaay’s son. As per the latest buzz, the makers of the show are looking to bring a popular female face to play the new lead of the show. A report in an entertainment portal suggested that Drashti Dhami and Sanaya Irani are in contention to play the new female lead of ‘Ishqbaaaz’. “Talks are happening with Sanaya Irani and Drashti Dhami to play the lead. The makers are looking for a very popular face to play the female lead post its leap,” a source told IWMBuzz. Drashti recently quit ‘Silsila-Badalte Rishton Ka’, where she played Nandini opposite Shakti Arora. Sanaya is currently busy shooting for Vikram Bhatt’s ‘Ghost. (Drashti and Shakti) The report further said that the channel and makers are keen to rope in either Drashti or Sanaya as the new female lead of IB. Interestingly, both of them have previously worked with Star Plus and Gul Khan. While Sanaya played the lead in Gul Khan’s ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ opposite Barun Sobti’ on the same channel, Drashti was part of Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil’ on Star Plus. The ‘Madhubala-Ek Ishq Ek Junoon’ shot to fame with Gul Khan’s ‘Geet Hui Sabse Parayi’ on Star One.
