FIR Registered In Mumbai Against ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ Actress Munmun Dutta For Using Casteist Slur In Video
Reportedly, an FIR has been registered against Munmun Dutta in Mumbai for using a casteist slur in a video on social media.
Mumbai: TV actress Munmun Dutta, who is famous for portraying the role of ‘Babita Iyer’ on Sab TV's show 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah', has landed into trouble yet again. Reportedly, an FIR has been registered against Munmun Dutta in Mumbai for using a casteist slur in a video on social media.
A report in ANI reads, “FIR registered against TV actor Munmun Dutta for posting a video with a casteist slur on social media: Mumbai Police”.
Munmun Dutta landed into a controversy when she used a word in her vlog that is regarded as a casteist slur. This use of this term irked the netizens and soon after, they started trending #ArrestMunmunDutta on Twitter. She was also booked under SC/ST act at Haryana’s Hansi.
The TMKOC actress even released an apology on her social media where she cited ‘language barrier’ as the reason for the use of the word. The statement read, “This is in reference to a video that I posted yesterday where in one word used by me has been misinterpreted. It was never said with the intent to insult, intimidate, humiliate or hurt anyone's feelings. Because of my language barrier, I was genuinely misinformed about the meaning of the word. Once I was made aware of its meaning I immediately took the part down.”
Munmun added, “I sincerely would like to apologize to every single person who has been unintentionally hurt by the usage of the word.”
Other than TMKOC, Munmun Dutta has starred in movies like ‘Mumbai Xpress’, ‘Holiday’ and others.
